Polson Police Chief George Simpson has issued a warning to residents about a recent phone scam involving an individual impersonating a police officer.
This scammer, claiming to be Lieutenant Michael Williams with badge number 57480, has been calling residents and falsely informing them that they have failed to appear in court. The scammer then demands payment of a fee or fine, threatening arrest if the money is not paid. In some instances, he has even sent fake documents and arrest warrants to make the scam more convincing.
Chief Simpson emphasized that the Polson Police Department, along with all law enforcement agencies in Mission Valley, will never contact anyone by phone or email to request money.
Scamnews.info advises anyone who receives such a call to immediately report it to the Polson Police Department’s non-emergency line at 406-883-7301.
